The Process

What Is Rotary Friction Welding?

Rotary Friction Welding (RFW) is a solid-state joining process where frictional heat — generated by rotating one component against a stationary one under controlled axial pressure — plasticises the material at the interface and forges the parts together.

No melting. No filler wire. No fusion defects. The result is a weld that is often stronger than the parent material, with a minimal heat-affected zone and none of the porosity or cracking risks of conventional fusion welding.

Our machines support welding of steel, aluminium, titanium, copper, stainless steel, and dissimilar metal combinations — including steel-to-aluminium and copper-to-steel joints that are impossible with conventional methods.

Exceptional Weld Strength

Defect-free, high-strength bonds with superior fatigue resistance — often exceeding the base material properties.

Precision & Repeatability

State-of-the-art closed-loop control systems deliver consistent weld quality across high-volume production runs.

Minimal Distortion

Solid-state joining avoids excessive heat build-up, fully preserving the structural integrity of the parent material.

Cost-Effective & Eco-Friendly

Zero consumables, reduced material waste, and lower energy use versus conventional arc or MIG welding.
